24 May Gladstone woman mourns favourite breakfast from The Black Duck.
I woke up this morning with a smile on my face, thinking “ohhh yeah, hump day, middle of the week, I am happpppy!” That didn’t last long.
At exactly 7:26amin a group text, I received news that The Black Duck is closing down.
The shock Facebook post said my favourite restaurant is not closing but is CLOSED effective immediately, well that’s the worst.
I know, I know, it’s ridiculous to feel such irrevocable loss over good food when people are dying in horrific events such has just occurred in Manchester.
Now, that I’m finished talking about my personal loss, Gladstone News would like to send positive vibes to the business owners who, through no fault of their own, have had their business closed down.
Glennis Lane said “It is with great sadness that The Black Duck has had to close suddenly. Due to non-compliance by our landlord to meet building Workplace, Health and Safety standards set by Council, the decision to shut was taken out of our hands.”
“It has been grand Gladstone, we hope to see you in the future with a new venture. Black Duck out…. Microphone drop.”
Mic drop, indeed. Best of luck to Glennis and her staff, we wish you all the best.
Goodbye sweet breakfast salad, you will be missed.
