Earlier this year the Gladstone Loners assisted Ray’s Soup Kitchen at the Anglican Church in serving hot meals to the community. Whilst volunteering their time they recognised a desperate need for blankets.
The club went ahead and initiated a Blanket Drive where they asked the community for donations of blankets to be given to the Anglican Church for the homeless and families in need leading up to the colder seasons.
Over 128 blankets, sleeping bags and many bags of clothes were collected and donated.
“Wow, what awesome and caring people you are. And what a fantastic community we have. I would like to thank every one of you for your wonderful hard work and generous donation. Having these donated to Ray’s Soup Kitchen at the Anglican Church will help out so many struggling and homeless people within our community stay warm this winter. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you! God Bless” Said Lea-Anne, from the Anglican Church, of the club and the donation.
