The 2017 Boyne Tannum HookUp is going super digital with the plans to create a Snapchat geo-filter to be used throughout the fishing competition. With the establishment of a Youth Committee in 2016, the idea was hatched to create the Snapchat filter which will be accessed when the user is in the vicinity of Bray Park over the three days of the event.
Social media will play a vital role in the Youth Committee’s cause as competitions will be run via Instagram and Facebook in alignment with the committee’s aim to increase participation of under 16’s to the HookUp.
Youth chair person, Paige Gaffey says she enjoys putting her energy into the group and is looking forward to getting involved more this year.
“I think it’s a really good opportunity to get involved in the community. I am planning on putting a lot of time into volunteering. It’s really fun,” Paige said.
The Boyne Tannum HookUp are really embracing new tech to enhance their event in its entirety as last year, with their partnership with local marketing company Elevate Media, they were able to sell tickets through their website in addition to selling them onsite, which is available again this year.
