Christmas in July raises over $4000 for the Capricorn Rescue Helicopter Service
Capricorn Lodge, at South End, Curtis Island, recently hosted their annual Christmas in July party, which is solely a fundraiser for the Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service.
Decorated at entry with an incredible Driftwood Christmas Tree and fairy lights galore, attendees, in their Christmas hats and sweaters were instantly transported to what seemed like a magical December eve.
Volunteer organisers Robyn Mulvena, Anneke Birch and Ann Abbott delivered a seamlessly executed event, with canapes and a 3-course meal, which were all homemade and raffles that ran all night long with an array of prizes donated by local residents and businesses. The night ended on a high with an art auction with pieces made and donated by talented local artists.
Top raffle winner Brock Rode, who walked away with a brand-new Weber BBQ thanks to Santos GLNG said “I was so excited when they called my name, I’d been telling everyone all night I was going to win that BBQ but I didn’t think I actually would. It was a bloody awesome night.”
Another party goer, Mel Dennis said, “I really enjoyed Christmas in July at Capricorn Lodge. Everyone was friendly and the evening was relaxed and fun, which made it a special night to raise funds for the rescue helicopter service.”
With the highest ever number of attendees, altogether, $4,703.65 was donated to the CHRS also, the highest amount ever raised at Christmas in July.
Event organiser Anneke Birch said, “it was a lot of hard work from a lot of good people but we’re very happy with how smoothly everything ran and we’re already looking forward to next year.”
Congratulations to Ailsa and Alan from Capricorn Lodge, Curtis Ferry Services, all of the sponsors and especially the committee of volunteers, who worked tirelessly to deliver such an incredible event.
