Eight local apprentices show skills at National Comp.

The World Skills 2019 flag is handed over at the Sydney Worldskills National competition

Gladstone apprentices Dylan Bell and Anthony Cobb have returned with gold medals from the Worldskills National Competition held in Sydney on June 2-4. 

Anthony, who works at the Gladstone Ports Corporation won gold in Electrical Installation and Dylan who works at Boyne Smelter won gold in Electrical Control.

Both guys won the top gong on their first ever visit to the national comp.

Seven Gladstone and one Rocky apprentice travelled to Sydney, competing in Automotive Mechanics, Electrical Control, Electrical Installation, Fitting, Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Turning and Welding.

WorldSkills brings together students, experts and industry to showcase trade skills and promote the importance and value of trade careers.

Anthony and Dylan are waiting to hear if they will take the next step and compete in the Worldskills 2019 in Kazan, in Russia.

The six other competitors from our region were Nathan Dunnett, Mitchell Robertson, Zak Karran, Jason Vasquez, Stephen Perfect and Lochie Anderson.
