Students from years 9 to 12 from high schools in the Gladstone region are invited to learn more about career and education pathways following high school at the EQIP 2018 Gladstone Careers Expo being held on Wednesday May 16 at the CQUniversity Gladstone Marina campus.
This important community event is shaping up to be an exciting one, and 40 exhibitors are hoping to speak with 800 future students and employees.
Make the most of this once a year opportunity where you can:
- Speak with experts from educational institutions like QUT and CQUniversity, trade training organisations and police, defence and local government recruiters, as well as local industry and business employers.
- Engage with the experts to find out what skills, qualifications, and experience you will need to succeed in your chosen career pathway.
- Hear inspiring local guest speakers like Anton Guinea (Peak Performance), Adam Balkin (Tourism leader and owner of AB Marine Services), Jess Pantou (Breakfast radio announcer, Hit FM) and Janis Barker (Raw Materials and Quality Analyst, QAL) about their career journey
- Get the Careers Expo booklet, which contains information on exhibitors, a section for students to do some research, and top tips from employers.
“While some students have a good idea of what they want to do after school, there are many that are still working it out,” Melissa Dennis, EQIP General Manager said.
“The key messages are that career pathways are not linear; to succeed you need give it a go, be resilient, hardworking, and determined.”
“Never give up no matter the obstacles and invest some research into the skills and qualifications you need to succeed,” she said. Do research on the skills and qualifications you need to succeed!”
