Gladstone’s CBD Entertainment Precinct will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland on Sunday (Dec 3) for Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre’s (GECC) free Christmas Street Party.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said excitement was building for the highly anticipated community event with thousands of residents expected to attend.
Christmas Street Party festivities will be held from 3 pm to 8 pm at Library Square, Goondoon Street.
“This big Christmas celebration in the CBD continues to grow each year with residents of all ages invited to join in the fun,” Councillor Burnett said.
A section of Goondoon Street, from Roseberry Street to Yarroon Street will be closed to traffic from 7 am to 9 pm to enable celebrations.
“There’s plenty of Christmas cheer to enjoy with children’s entertainment on offer including face-painting, a jumping castle and areas for craft and activities.”
Other highlights will include Christmas market stalls, Christmas carols and entertainment.
The region’s nine-metre tall Christmas tree will take pride of place in Library Square with the official lighting of the tree by Mayor Burnett at sunset.
“The Christmas Street Party’s festive atmosphere will provide the ideal setting to socialise and enjoy the time with family and friends,” Cr Burnett said.
“Residents may also find an ideal Christmas gift to purchase after browsing through the many market stalls on offer.”
Food and drink stalls will operate in addition to plenty of fun, family activities and entertainment including a special visit from Santa.
