Children wanting to sign up to play sport in the Gladstone region can start their 2019 season on the right foot. The next round of the Queensland Government’s Get Started Vouchers program opened on Wednesday, 6 February. The vouchers will provide $150 support for up to 36,000 Queensland children from low-income families.
The vouchers enable young Queenslanders who might otherwise miss out to get active with their friends through sport and recreation by helping to relieve the start-up costs.
The vouchers can be redeemed at nearly 4300 sport or recreation clubs registered with the Get Started Vouchers program. Eligible applicants are Queensland children and young people aged from 5 to 17 who hold, or whose parent, carer or guardian holds a valid Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card with the child’s name on it. Alternatively, they can be identified by a registered referral agent, such as a school principal, school guidance officer, child safety officer or a police officer working with children/families in need.
