Running annually, The Showcase is an initiative of the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum (GRAGM) Society, supported by the late Society patron, Mr Cyril Golding (1920-2012), and providing an exciting opportunity for local high school visual arts students to showcase their works. The exhibition includes selected works in all media by emerging artists, aged 15 to 18 years.
Toolooa State High School (TSHS) students were invited to partner with GRAGM this year, to learn behind-the-scenes practices of a gallery and museum, while assisting in the exhibition’s installation.
Our Priceless Past is another exhibition that annually invites a local high school to partner with GRAGM. This exhibition aims to unite two different generations, featuring the stories of local Special Seniors, prepared and presented by students to celebrate Seniors Week in Queensland.
This year’s exhibition, Our Priceless Past: Oral Histories and Memorabilia, will display nine stories, written by year 8 – 12 students from Rosedale State School.
Please join the students and Seniors to celebrate the official exhibition launch with Cr Matt Burnett, Mayor Gladstone Region, and Mr David Richardson, General Manager, The Observer, 11am Thursday, 23 August 2018.
A Gallery & Museum initiative, Our Priceless Past 2018 is held in conjunction with The Gladstone Observer and LiveBetter community services.
