10 Jul Life changing trip to visit sponsor children in Indonesia
Gladstone’s Lifestyle Church World Impact Directors, Melissa and Alby Eckel are taking a team of 10 people to Indonesia for 2 weeks during these school holidays to visit and connect with their sponsor children and families.
“This will be our 6th trip of taking teams over to Indonesia,” Melissa and Alby said. “We want to let our sponsor children know that they are loved, and they are worth us travelling from another country to meet them.”
Travelling to Central Java, the team consisting of Melissa and Alby, Lexie and Aaron Bachman, Malcolm Wassell, Owen and Denise Gordon, Mel Lucy, Alison Thomas and Allison Hamon will spend time in Semarang, Jepara and Bondo.
“Sponsoring children helps to educate them and give them a hope of a better future, one free from the limitations of poverty. The projects we support help the children dream and provide meals, access to medical treatment and immunisations, vocational training in trades such as mechanics, hairdressing and hydroponics, and are a support network for families in poverty,” Melissa said.
“We will visit our individual sponsor child’s homes, take them groceries, and spend time learning about each other,” she said. Lifestyle are also planning an outing for the children at a water park:
“Language can sometimes be a barrier, but when we have fun together at a place like this, laughter takes it’s place,” Melissa said.
