Marine incident, one deceased, Curtis Island (Gladstone)

Police and Maritime Safety Queensland are investigating following a fatal marine incident at Curtis Island yesterday evening.
At around 7:20pm police received reports a vessel carrying four people had capsized off Curtis Island.

Nearby boats retrieved the occupants from the ocean before emergency services arrived.

A 73-year-old woman from Torquay was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 34-year-old Bracewell woman and a 14-month-old boy were transported to Rockhampton Base Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

A 32-year-old Mount Larcom man was not injured during the incident.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
