Mines Minister Dr Anthony Lynham today welcomed Santos’ next stage of the GLNG development near Injune in Queensland’s Central Highlands.
Santos today announced its decision to proceed with the $400 million-plus Arcadia gas development, which will create up to 300 construction jobs.
“This is further fixed capital investment in our $70 billion LNG industry, and demonstrates ongoing confidence in Queensland as a resources investment destination,” Dr Lynham said.
He said the investment was also good news for landholders, who have to date been awarded more than $387 million in compensation.
The LNG industry supports 7000 oil and gas jobs. $9.8 billion worth of LNG was exported in the 12 months to February 2018.
Arcadia is expected to start production in the third quarter of 2019 and produce nearly 27 PJ at peak in 2022.
