Are you a parent with a child under the age of five and looking for a safe and fun environment for your child to play and learn with other children where you can meet and socialize with other parents?
If so, have you considered joining a community playgroup? Playgroups provide a wonderful network for parents, carers, babies and children up to school age to come together in a relaxed and friendly environment to connect, play and learn.
Goodstart Kin Kora has established a new playgroup which is free of charge and open to the whole community. Sessions are held every Friday in the centre from 10am to 11am and activities include various indoor and outdoor childcare experiences.
Centre director Mrs Shae Young said the activities are child-friendly and in some instances child-initiated and will encourage a love for learning with a focus on building a child’s social skills and confidence.
“We believe that the first five years are the most important in a child’s life and we want to encourage school readiness at the same time as providing fun experiences for all children,” Mrs Young said.
“Our team is excited to be offering a community playground within the centre to support parents in the community, particularly those who are vulnerable or who may be experiencing some challenges with parenting. This is a great way for parents to share parenting experiences and make new friends while knowing they are investing in their child’s learning and development.”
