This past Saturday Olympic Gold Medalist Clint Robinson paid a visit to the region for paddling and ski clinics with the Tannum Sands Surf Club. Luke Grice, a local that competed in the 41st Annual Maui Jim Molokai Challange in Hawaii back in May, organised for Clint to include the Tannum club into his workshop schedule.
The five time Olympian for kayaking trained Grice before the Challenge earlier in the year, so Luke thought to reach out and see how he could pass on his expertise to local kids. The clinics were on Saturday afternoon at Tannum Sands and saw the kids practice in the Boyne River.
Grice said “The afternoon was really successful and the kids loved it, as well as the older paddlers.”
“It’s great to see kids in our region have opportunities like this that aren’t often available outside of big cities. Thanks to Clint Robinson for visiting Tannum Sands and passing on his knowledge to aspiring young athletes. “
Clint is also offering these clinics in Yepoon and Bundaberg.
