Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC) is delving into the world of renewable energy, starting with a solar demonstration trial.
Seventy solar panels will be installed on the administration building on Yarroon Street this week.
GPC CEO Peter O’Sullivan says it’s a sign the company is committed to energy efficiency and long-term sustainability.
“GPC is investigating what it can do to not only curb our use of electricity but continue to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions,” Mr O’Sullivan said.
“This is just the start of our renewable energy journey.”
Gladstone-based contractor Cutuli Electrical will facilitate the installation process.
“GPC recognises the skills that already exist in Gladstone, and is dedicated to supporting local businesses wherever possible,” Mr O’Sullivan said.
The solar panels will cover 136m² of roof space.
