For everyone in Gladstone, in was Show Day last Wednesday the 10th of August, but for the families and residents of Edenvale it was Show Day last Friday the 12th of August. The Blue Care Gladstone Aged Facility hold a Show Day for their residents every year, this year however, was much bigger and better than previous years.
Service Manager Sharon Triffett said “Show Day is designed to bring residents, clients, staff and their families together in a fun and relaxed way,” she said.
“Many of our residents are unable to travel to community events, such as regional Show Days, so we thought we would bring the fun of the fair to them.
She also said that this year’s event would not have been possible without all the help and enthusiasm of the staff and volunteers.
“We are delighted with the support we have received from the community with approximately 40 volunteers, including senior students from Chanel College Gladstone, assisting on the day.”
“This year is much bigger with all of the staff very enthusiastic to put it together. Right after this one, we will set up a committee and start planning next year’s!”
The day was a fun filled event for all of the residents, with family invited along to join in on the activities. The Edenvale Show Day boasted everything and more that any great show would have – fairy floss, an ice cream van, dagwood dogs, games to win prizes, clowns and even show bags!
However, the most popular part of the show by far was the animal farm. Residents had the chance to pat and play with baby goats, pigs, chickens and a lama.
We hope everyone at Edenvale had an amazing Show Day last week, and we look forward to seeing what is in store for next year’s show!
