Calliope says a heartfelt Goodbye to a much-loved eatery, The Empty Plate.

Empty Plate

FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS NOW CALLIOPE HAS BEEN HOME TO A VERY POPULAR EATERY, THE EMPTY PLATE.

The Empty Plate has been reviewed and recommended from far and wide. Their homestyle food left customers feeling like they just left Grandma’s house, full and satisfied! Unfortunately for the Gladstone region, the eatery has recently closed, leaving a void in all of our hungry tummies. Owner Kylz wrote a heart felt message on Facebook to inform her supportive customers of her closure.

“Good Morning EP fans,

As most of you already know, late last year I got the fantastic yet unexpected news that I was expecting my first child. What many of you wouldn’t know is that for the last 4 years I have had a total of 5 surgeries and continue to struggle with ongoing medical issues in regards to severe pain associated with Endometriosis and Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome as well as very slim chances of ever being able to bare children naturally. My last surgery was undertaken 2 weeks prior to my opening in August of 2015.

For the first year of trade these medical conditions did not inhibit the day to day operation of my shop as dramatically as you would have noticed they have since becoming pregnant, most recently due to the fact that I currently not only have a beautiful baby growing, I also have growing a large cyst which is now painfully bleeding inside my ovary.

So it is with immense sadness that unfortunately due to my health, high operating costs coupled with the declining economy that The Empty Plate has had to completely cease trading. We tried as a team to keep trading as long as possible but the time has come where I have no other option and will be putting my health and the health of my unborn child above all else.

I would personally like to thank each and every one of our loyal customers for your unwavering and continued support over the last nearly 2 years. This has been one of the hardest decisions of my adult life but one of not only great sadness but also enormous excitement as in the coming months a miracle child will be born.

I am currently in the process of taking stock of the enormity of a business closure and over the coming months I will be tying up loose ends and eventually be leaving the area to have my baby. Once again from the bottom of my heart thank you for all that everyone has done for myself and my staff recently. Hope to see you around our beautiful community to personally thank as many of you as possible.

Big love, Kylz x”

Good luck Kylz, we wish you and your family the best for the future.
