PEDAL FOR A PURPOSE IS THE RIDE ABOUT COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR THE CAUSE OF SCHOOL CHAPLAINCY AND RAISING AWARENESS OF CHAPPY SERVICES. CURRENTLY, 11 CHAPLAINS WORKING ACROSS 14 SCHOOLS WITH ALL MONIES RAISED STAYING LOCALLY WITHIN OUR REGION.
This year’s Tour De Chaplain was held on Saturday 22nd July – from Many Peaks to Yarwun Recreational Park. Reaching a record number of registrations of 115 in total and exceeding last year’s fundraising total of over $21000.
Riders enjoyed a scenic 100km journey while creating great memories with friends, family or work mates and the 30km ride proven very popular this year, with 27 riders leaving Calliope around lunchtime, which was a great way to begin the cycling challenge.
The Finish line included a BBQ lunch, jumping castle, face painting, fairy floss, popcorn, unicycle display, prizes and lots of Chappy games to keep everyone entertained.
Congratulations to all riders it was a fantastic day. Events like these are not made possible without the support of the community, supporters cheering on, fantastic volunteers and our wonderful riders. It makes all the difference when the community gets involved and means we’re able to keep chappies bringing hope to our young people in schools. An event such as this requires many hours of planning and hard work from those involved – it’s very much a team effort!
WE ARE VERY PROUD TO ANNOUNCE our Team Fundraising trophy winners with an amazing $5300 to Port City Power and also this year’s winner of the Individual Fundraising winner is Jill Hopson with a fundraising total of $2250.
