Last week Gladstone aligned thinking with famous cities like London, New York, San Francisco, Sydney and Brisbane bringing Pop-Up’s to the CBD.
The trial started of a fantastic new concept that has been driven by Gladstone Regional Council to encourage and assist microbusiness thrive in the region.
Pop-up Enterprises are part of Council’s Connect, Innovate and Create pilot program supporting microbusinesses in the Gladstone Region and run by council’s strategic community inclusion officer Luis Arroyo.
Mr Arroyo has been working for two years to bring pop-up shops to Gladstone and he has secured time, space and money to trial a pilot program which will be seen today and into the future.
The words ‘opportunity’ and ‘business’ together make for an exciting community outcome for those selected to participate in boosting the entrepreneur culture in Gladstone.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said the trial program was designed to support microbusinesses within the Gladstone Region.
“The concept is in its early stages and offers space in the city heart for a limited time to typically home-based enterprises,” Councillor Burnett said.
Pop-up Enterprises offer products and services ranging from children’s clothes to homewares, kitchenwares, accessories and apparel, natural health alternatives, artwork, event management/public relations and a service connecting people with jobs in the construction and mining industry.
A featured microbusiness operating this week is Everything4U2
A local business that has an online shop and now a pop up shop with hundreds of interesting and unique products.
Mrs Kiernan said the concept had attracted her interest for its potential to help promote her microbusiness. “No one really knows we are here, this is why the Pop-up Enterprises are brilliant,” Mrs Kiernan said.
“We are looking forward to it and are very thankful that we have been given an opportunity to display and sell our goods right in the heart of the CBD.”
The next Pop-up Enterprise dates will be held on May 26, 27 and 28 and June 9, 10 and 11.
