Two Gladstone families are reducing, reusing and recycling after their botanical knowledge won them an eco-friendly prize.
Tondoon Talks at EcoFest opened visitors’ eyes to the glorious flora of the Port Curtis region and the fine art of sustainable turf with council employees sharing their specialised knowledge in a series of talks.
For the attentive listeners, there was a compost bin and garden fertilizer prize worth over $300 to win simply by answering some questions:
Gardens director Barry Meiring said it wasn’t a complete giveaway: “Answers had to be pretty specific -. they really earned the prize!”
Lucky winners Amber, Ryder and Heidi Curran along with Tom and Kurt Koivunen and Sandra Suter are now looking forward to getting their hands dirty, reducing waste and helping our region’s environment thrive.
