Volunteering opportunity for blue card holders at GECC’s Little Day Out

Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre (GECC) is seeking residents with a current blue card who are willing to assist at GECC’s Little Day Out later this month.

Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said the volunteering opportunity was suited to holders of a current blue card which enabled them to work with children and young people.

“Volunteers who love events and are able to spare a few hours between 9 am and 4 pm on Sunday, May 27 are sought to assist with various activities held during Little Day Out,” Councillor Burnett said.

“Considering the strong community response to last year’s Little Day Out, thousands of regional youngsters are expected to attend.”

Cr Burnett said Little Day Out was also the ideal event for those studying in early childhood or education fields to be involved with.

“Volunteers will assist our GECC events team and as many helpers as we can get would be
appreciated to ensure Little Day Out is again a great success.”

Volunteers may be tasked to assist with activities including arts and crafts, a silent disco, five minutes of fame on stage, a paper aeroplane competition and more.

Some volunteers may also be requested to welcome people to the venue, sell merchandise, check tickets, usher or assist with general event operations.

The GECC Little Day Out will be hosted by ABC Kids’ favourite Jimmy Giggle.
