On behalf of the GCCI committee I would like that thank all the nominees, finalists, and winners from the GCCI 2020 Best in Business Awards. 2020 has been a challenging year for many businesses and it has been great to see so many of them deal with the situation admirably and some of the success stories that we heard when judging the finalists were great to hear. At the event we held a charity auction on 25 centrepieces donated by local businesses and raised a total of $8,619. We donated this to two local organisations – Gladstone Food Centre and Gladstone Men’s Shed – who were very grateful and said this would be a great benefit to the people who use their organisations.
I would also like to thank my fellow committee members for the amazing work that went into planning the whole process from the nominations through to the judging process and finally putting together the gala dinner. It was more difficult to plan the event this year in a shorter timeframe and we had to restrict numbers at the gala dinner. However, we have had great feedback about the event and the updated nomination process. However, we do realise that there is always room for improvement, and we will get to work in the new year to make 2021 even bigger and better.
