28 Jan Festival of Summer 2021 Wrap Up
Festival of Summer 2021 has wrapped up for another year.
The week-long festival was a huge success with over a thousand attendees across four major events.
Following the success of the inaugural Festival of Summer early last year, the event was specially designed for 11 to 17-year-olds and ran from the 10th-15th of January.
The week was kicked off by a free Opening Festival at the Gladstone Aquatic Centre which came alive with live music, an inflatable watercourse and an array of food options that pleased the entire family.
The week continued with 12 action-packed activities over four days such as slacklining, gel blasting, go-karting, a drone flying course, a filmmaking course, an Agnes Water/Seventeen Seventy beach day which included surf lessons and a LARC tour, a recycled art workshop, a floral art workshop and a two-day deportment, etiquette and modelling boot camp.
The festival concluded with the Festival of Summer Sounds an indoor music concert that featured a stacked lineup of unearthed performers such as Jacinta Bradley, SHAW and Nathan Bedford along with national headline acts Jack Botts and The Dreggs.
Adults didn’t miss out on the action this year either, with the successful debut of the new Festival of Summer Sounds 18+ event.
