GAWB Community Education Programs

The Gladstone Area Water Board is committed to investing in the Gladstone region’s future. Recognising the vital contribution that individuals and community organisations make to the development of the Gladstone region, we have established a community education program to support events and organisation’s that align with our vision and values. Some of the initiatives we currently offer to the Gladstone region include:

Community Sponsorship Framework

Our Sponsorship Framework aims to provide funding in support of our local communities, events and initiatives. This year we have two grant options available – General Sponsorship and Environmental MicroGrants. Launched at the beginning of 2019, our Environmental Micro Grants support ideas or initiatives that will improve the local environment in the Gladstone region. Micro-Grants are capped at $1,500 each to ensure we can support as many programs and organisations as possible!

Site Tours

We offer site tours of the Lake Awoonga Recreation Area, dam operations and water treatment plant for education purposes to local schools. These tours provide great insight into the link between catchments, storage, treatment and distribution as part of the broader water cycle.

Hydration Station

Our FREE Community Hydration Station is available to hire for local community events! Keep your guests hydrated and eliminate the need for single-use water bottles! It simply connects to a tap water source and supplies fresh, chilled water on tap for your guests.

For smaller events, we also have 50L water coolers and marquees available for use. Visit to find out more about our community initiatives today.
