23 May Get behind Gladstone’s Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal
The Salvation Army needs no introduction. The Salvos are renowned for their tireless devotion to those needing a helping hand over so many generations, having profoundly impacted the lives of a countless number of families.
Likewise, to many fans of Rugby Union and poetry, Rupert McCall needs no introduction…
The Salvation Army Red Shield Business committee 2018 Appeal event being held FRIDAY MAY 25 at the Gladstone Events Centre at Yaralla Sports Club.
The dinner will be headlined by guest speaker, the poet laureate of the beautiful game, Rupert McCall.
Rupert is known throughout Australia for his passionate and colourful poetry which embodies so much of what it means to be an Australian. Rupert has penned iconic works including “Green & Gold Malaria”, “A Hundred Years From Now” (a tribute to our ANZACs) and many more emotionally evocative poems to lift the spirits of all that read and hear his words. The Salvation Army shares the same ideals of Rupert’s words – to lift the spirits and to deliver hope to those most in need.
Locally, the work and dedication of the officers and volunteers within our community is without equal and irreplaceable. As anyone living in the Gladstone region may be aware, the services and resources of the Salvation Army are in demand more than ever.
The Red Shield Business Committee 2018 Appeal Dinner begins at 5:30 pm for a 6:00 pm start, finishing at 8:00 pm. There will be a fellowship event to follow the official dinner, including live music performances and entertainment from 8:00 pm with more details to follow.
The cost of the dinner is free; however, a donation is expected and any pledges over $1000 prior to the event will be recognized on the night to our audience of 300 guests.
Joining guest speaker Rupert McCall will be a local testimonial speaker who will also share their story and involvement with The Salvos through a difficult time in their life.
