14 Apr Gladstone Girls take Kokoda
It’s not for the faint hearted!
Teams of four tackle 96km (the distance of the Kokoda Track) through the Gold Coast hinterland within a time limit of 39 hours (in honour of the 39th Militia, who were the first Australian Response Unit at Kokoda).
Gladstone Region will be well represented at this event by four very strong and supportive women (not to mention fit). The team named Flab-U-Less consists of Jade Gelder, Roxanne Deakin, Rebecca Strong and Emily-Jo Willis.
Emily-Jo said, “It’s not for the faint hearted – it’s all about supporting each other through to the end, pushing yourself beyond your limits and achieving something you thought could never be possible.” While the girls have been in training for the event they also need to raise a minimum of $1600 which all goes to the Kokoda Youth Foundation helping Aussie teens.
They have organised a fundraiser bootcamp at Canoe Point on 15th May 8am-9:30am $20/person with all money raised going towards the Kokoda Youth Foundation. If you are not one to ‘bootcamp’ then you can still support the girls through buying raffle tickets. The perk – a signed Authentic certified Wayne Bennett photo with a Broncos signed ball. Raffle will be drawn 1st June.
