Gladstone Local Calls for More Women in Transmission

Gladstone’s own Tiah Smith is proving there’s no limit to what women can achieve in traditionally male-dominated industries. As a first-year apprentice with Zinfra, working on the Queensland Gas Pipeline (QGP), Tiah is passionate about paving the way for more women to join her on the frontline of gas transmission in Australia.

Straight out of high school, Tiah initially pursued nursing but quickly realized it wasn’t for her. “Guys did the trades and girls went to uni—that’s how it felt,” she said. “But I hated staring at white walls all day. I left and went into sales to find my way.”
