Gladstone’s New SuperGrid Training Centre and Transmission Hub
Early construction has commenced for Powerlink’s highly anticipated SuperGrid Training Centre and Transmission Hub in Gladstone. This state-of-the-art facility is set to play a pivotal role in developing critical skills and providing apprentice training opportunities for hundreds of workers, coinciding with the ongoing energy transformation in the region.
Powerlink’s Central Queensland network is vital in ensuring a reliable power supply, especially as heavy industry players transition to electrifying their operations to reduce emissions. This shift is crucial not only for meeting regulatory requirements but also for fostering a sustainable future. To support this transition, Powerlink has initiated substantial efforts to strengthen the existing transmission grid through significant investments. Among these is a new transmission line that will connect the Calvale and Calliope River substations, utilising easements acquired by Powerlink in the 1980s to streamline the construction process.
