Lady Musgrave Island is the southernmost coral cay of the Bunker Group and is soon to be home to a brand new pontoon!
Lady Musgrave HQ, a new three-level pontoon on Lady Musgrave Lagoon is set to change guest experiences on the Southern Great Barrier Reef with an underwater observatory and accommodation.
Kate Jones Minister for Tourism in Queensland shared at the launch of plans,
“This pontoon is a game-changer for Lady Musgrave and the Great Barrier Reef and will create a whole new way for visitors to experience the island and the region”
“The pontoon will be 36 metres by 12 metres and will provide accommodation for up to 24 people.
“It will host an underwater observatory with UV lighting, so visitors can experience the reef at night and have upper decks for diving, snorkelling and environmental data collection.
Lady Musgrave Experience managing director Brett Lakey said the world-class pontoon project would significantly expand the guest experience on the Great Barrier Reef. This innovative project will see Lady Musgrave Experience driving benefits throughout the whole Southern Great Barrier Reef region.
“This development will ensure the southern area of the Great Barrier Reef is an attractive gateway for visitors, providing some of the best tourism experiences on the Reef,” Mr Lakey said.
