06 Feb Lee finally receives a great nights’ sleep – and (wins) a family holiday!
When local woman, Lee Knott visited the team at Regional & Rehab Mobility, the last thing she had on her mind was winning a fun family holiday! Lee is the lucky winner of Fisher & Paykel Healthcare’s Summer Shopping Spree competition over the December/January period.
Lee had been suffering from broken sleep at night along with constant headaches, exhaustion and fatigue during the day, but, like many mothers, she had just assumed it was due to her busy lifestyle. It wasn’t until Lee’s partner pointed out her constant snoring and increasingly restless night-time behaviour, she decided it was time to do something about it.
Lee’s doctor referred her to have a sleep study. At the sleep lab, Lee was told that she had Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and was prescribed continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy to manage her sleep disorder. OSA is a common disorder and affects 9% of adults in Australia. It’s a condition that can be effectively managed in many ways, but CPAP is often prescribed because it is the most effective and least invasive option, it only needs to be used while you sleep, and it significantly improves your quality of sleep. Lee was relieved her sleep problem could be treated so quickly.
Now 10 weeks into her CPAP therapy, Lee and her partner are already noticing significant improvements in her sleep. Lee said she was shocked when she received the call last week to notify her, she was the successful winner of the Fisher & Paykel Healthcare’s competition. “I’m so lucky and I have big plans for my $1,000 Eftpos card! I spoke to my family and I’ve decided to take my family to White Water World for a short holiday later this year. It’s a great way to spend time with them and the perfect way to celebrate my new-found energy!”.
