With the weather being fairly unpredictable and reports varying from day to day, a few of us with our well planned strategies had to adlib and make decisions on the go. For some this worked in their favour.
The harboursand estuaries were where most concentrated their efforts – Turkey Beach was working well for Bream and Flathead where small Vibe Lures and Zmann plastics in mullet colours worked a treat in and around drains on the outgoing, and the mangroves were holding good size Bream.Some beautiful Jew were caught over the past week as the tides were perfect for night fishing and South Trees and the Harbour were the places to wet a line. Big live mullet and whole squid housed on a running ball sinker and 8/0 hooks did the job.
Seal Rocks, South Entrance and Rundle Island fished well over the past week and the Hook Up. Some nice Tuna and Mackerel were caught on floating baits and trolling Rapala lures. Out wider the southern end of Rock Cod, Northwest and Fitzroy were producing some 15 to 25 kg specimens of Spanish.
