National awards shine spotlight on local campgrounds

After moving to Agnes Water four years ago, husband and wife Michael and Michaela Oliver set to create more than just a campground with their bush camp Traveller’s Rest 1770.

Their hard work and dedication in creating a truly unique experience for their guests has been recognized with the recent news that their unique outdoor camp ground was a Runner Up for two Hipcamp Awards, Best Tent or Caravan Site in Australia 2022 and Best Hipcamp in Queensland 2022.

The recognition was a wonderful surprise for the duo, who love sharing their piece of paradise with campers.

“This is a people’s award, and it makes us feel very humbled, and also very proud of our achievements,” Michaela said.

“We are thankful to all the campers who stayed with us over the past year and took time out of their day to review us.

“Without each and every review we would not have been nominated for the Hipcamp Awards, and as we are still growing and developing, being Runners Up in both categories means a lot more exposure for our campground.

“We are looking forward to all the campers who are planning on exploring the Gladstone and Discovery Coast regions, and showing them why our slogan is ‘Traveller’s Rest 1770… more than just a campground.”

Hipcamp is the most comprehensive online resource for discovering unique outdoor stays, whether it be tent camping, caravan parks, cabins or glamping.

They look at all bookings, reviews and ratings to identify top-performing listings, such as Traveller’s Rest 1770, that qualify as nominees for the Hipcamp Awards.

It’s then up to the online community to vote and decide the Best Hipcamps to visit in 2022.
