Residents in regional and remote Queensland, including Gladstone, now have greater access to homeownership through the Queensland Housing Finance Loan regional trial. This initiative is designed for individuals and families who can afford to buy or build a home but are unable to secure private financing from banks or building societies.
The two-year trial increases the household income eligibility cap from $141,000 to $201,000 annually, opening the door for more regional Queenslanders to apply. The loan can be used to purchase an established home, unit, townhouse, or duplex, or to build a new house in one of 45 eligible council regions across the state.
