19 Dec #renovate4680 Competition for 2019 Comes to an End
#renovate4680 has come to an end for 2019, and with it we’ve seen some of the most inspiring makeovers!
#renovate4680 is a local renovation competition that recognises local kitchen and bathroom renovations that have been completed throughout the year.
The ultimate winner is judged by the voting public with a prize of an overnight stay in the 9th Floor Harbour View apartment at The Oaks Gladstone, with complimentary champagne and a hamper on arrival, as well as a dinner voucher for two at in house restaurant, Oak & Vine.
This year BB Renovation won the grand prize with their incredible residential kitchen renovation! ME Renovation won the residential bathroom category; RD Renovation won the commercial category and DM renovation won the support services category.
Gladstone News interviewed Alicia Williams from Locations Estate Agents to find out more about #renovate4680:
How did #renovate 4680 start?
#renovate4680 was an idea I founded two years ago during a difficult time in our local property market. I saw an opportunity to promote local tradies and suppliers to assist people to renovate their existing kitchen or bathroom. These are two key areas that help sell a house for a premium price, so it made sense for people to be incentivised to renovate these spaces within their homes. Due to the scope of the campaign, I realised quite quickly that this would require collaboration between other like-minded, local businesses. The first year we all pitched in and got the idea going. This year we included several new categories, like the Support Services Award and the Commercial category. The 2019 competition has been a huge success and we are looking forward to doing it all again next year in 2020.
How does #renovate4680 impact on the community?
#renovate4680 brings the community together by supporting local businesses, suppliers and contractors with a local renovation competition. Each year, people are invited to submit their entries within an 8-week competition period. From there, the judges short list the best entrants and the public is asked to vote on their favourite kitchen or bathroom renovation. This year we also had a people’s choice award which was awarded to the highest number of votes received across the competition. Surprisingly there was only one vote that separated them! It’s great to see so many people getting involved and submitting their entries for ultimate bragging rights as Gladstone’s best renovation.
Who’s involved in organising #renovate4680?
We have several key sponsors that form the organising committee and representatives from each business participate in getting the job done. LOCATIONS estate agents are the primary sponsor with several staff contributing to marketing campaign and competition delivery. Co-sponsors include The Oaks Grand Gladstone, GIW Designs, Harbour City Tiles and Carpets, Gladstone Cinemas, Betta Home Living Gladstone, BOQ Gladstone, Elevate Media and Gladstone News.
