School Holiday Activities

With week one of school holiday’s almost over, it’s easy to run out of ideas and activities to keep the kids entertained.

Here are 4 ideas to keep the family busy these school holidays:

  1. Rock Painting – Is growing in popularity in Gladstone with adults and children of all ages putting down their screens and tablets and picking up a paintbrush before releasing their painted rocks into the universe, hiding them and hoping that someone will find them – to keep or to relocate.
  2. Visit East Shores or Gladstone Marina – With three new playgrounds being built and plenty of wide-open space, the Gladstone Marina is sure to keep the kids entertained until they wear themselves out. With BBQ’s and picnic tables, East Shores and the Marina are the perfect spots for an afternoon out with the family.
  3. Bake cupcakes or cookies – A cupcake or cookie decorating competition is the perfect way to keep the kids amused for a few hours and sort afternoon tea. Get the kids involved in baking a batch of cupcakes or cookies, then set them loose with a rainbow of icing colours, bowls of sprinkles and lollies and their imaginations to come up with the most amazingly decorated cupcake of the day.
  4. Gardening – Herbs are fun to grow and the kids will love having their own garden to tend. They’re easy to grow from seed, requiring little patience as some herbs, like cress and rocket, should start to sprout in as little as two days!
