12 Aug Show your Flower Power this Daffodil Day
Locals are being urged to pick up a bunch of flowers this August to show their support for the 145,000 Australians diagnosed with cancer each year.
Cancer Council Queensland is celebrating 35 years of Daffodil Day on August 27 and local volunteers will be out selling bunches of daffodils for $12, with all money raised going to life-saving research and cancer support services.
Cancer Council Queensland’s Gladstone Branch Chair Ros Newberry said the ‘Power of the Flower’ lies in “its ability to not only inspire hope, but to encourage people to take action”.
“By donating or fundraising or buying a bunch of flowers this Daffodil Day Appeal, you will be helping fund some of the brightest researchers in the country who are dedicated to discovering the next cancer breakthroughs,” she said.
The Cancer Council is the largest independent funder of cancer research in Australia and aims to raise life-saving funds across the country this Daffodil Day Appeal.
