Michael Robotham is one of my favourite authors. The Other Wife is number nine in the Joe O’Loughlin series and it’s as captivating as each of the others. I highly recommend reading the series in order but it’s certainly not essential to enjoying any of the novels. Robotham has a way of creating characters so that you feel you have met them, yet his talent is such that he doesn’t resort to lengthy prose full of description. His fast-paced writing will keep you interested from start to finish; the twists will keep you wondering so that even if you’re sure you’ve worked it out you’ll doubt yourself several times again before you reach the end!
The Other Wife is another psychological thriller with clinical psychologist Joe O’Loughlin undertaking an investigation but this time it involves his parents. Lives are in danger and Joe is forced to accept that sometimes people aren’t as they seem, no matter how much you think you know them. Michael Robotham is a natural storyteller, which is evident in his novels and during his author talks. I find Michael Robotham is one of the few authors whose books stop me doing much else until I’ve finished the story because I need to know how it will end!
