A former private obstetrician at the Gladstone Mater Hospital sheds some light on the dire status of the present situation.
“Prior to the closure of the Gladstone Mater Hospital, there were two obstetric specialists working there as well as two GP specialists. At the time, there were three obstetricians at the public hospital as well. We were all involved in the public hospital’s after-hours roster, so the closure of the private hospital resulted in a major loss to the workforce,” they said.
