With Winter well and truly settling in it can be easy to ignore our health regime and spend too much time on the couch rugged up, snacking and binging a new tv series.

It can take quite a bit of effort to maintain our health during winter, so we have devised ways that you can create a winter wellness plan that works for you.

Get out the slow cooker

Emphasise warm and rich slow-cooked meals this seasons, they will assist in staying warm and healthy. With the increase in heavier foods, be sure to increase spices and foods that help keep digestion lively.

Keep physically active

This can be the hardest during winter but staying physically active will help bolster mental health and physical immunity, which has never been more important in preventing the spread of diseases.

Change your sleeping pattern

Follow the sun’s lead, as the days get shorts, change your sleep routine toward going to be earlier and to your body more hours to rest.

Improve your immune system

Strengthen your body’s defences by keeping your gut healthy.  Consume foods that have natural probiotics (like yogurt, kefir, miso soup, cultured vegetables, sauerkraut), or take a high-quality supplement.

Increase vitamin D intake

With the reduced sunlight during the winter months, many people develop vitamin D deficiencies which can lead to depression, bone and back pain, fatigue and tiredness, and impaired wound healing. Either take a vitamin D supplement to counter a deficiency or spend 15-20 minutes in the sun.
