Belinda, the creative mind behind Writey Oh, is a talented calligraphy artist based in Gladstone. Specialising in lettering for shop windows, signs, chalkboards, and other surfaces, Belinda’s journey with calligraphy began during her teenage years when her parents presented her with a calligraphy pen, sparking her passion for the art form. “I have loved writing for as long as I can remember!” Belinda says. “I taught myself how to use them. It seemed to come pretty naturally to me. On and off I kept practicing calligraphy, but it wasn’t until July last year that I started my business ‘Writey Oh’, and it’s an absolute dream come true.”
Throughout her life, Belinda harboured a deep passion for calligraphy, viewing it as a beloved hobby rather than a potential career path. It served her well on various occasions, whether fulfilling requests from employers for handcrafted signs or adding a personal touch to family weddings. However, her perspective shifted when she discovered the Kimlligraphy online program. Eager to enhance her skills and explore new techniques, Belinda embraced the opportunity to delve deeper into the art of calligraphy. “The course also covered how to start a calligraphy business, so I thought I’d give it a go. Kim and Mark, who run the program, have been so inspiring and supportive – I don’t think I would have started my business if I’d not joined their program.”
