How to enter & Rules of Entry

Read carefully and understand the rules and guideline instructions.

  • If shortlisted in more than one category, each category must have a separate Business Summary.
  • Include the nomination Acceptance Cover Sheet and Business Summary, signed and dated.
  • One original legible copy of your Nomination Acceptance form and Business Summary must be
  • presented.
  • Submissions will be accepted in email form to projects@gcci.com.au.
  • Submissions must not be taken to any other sponsors of the Best in Business awards.
  • Your submission will not be returned and remains the property of The Gladstone Chamber of
  • Commerce & Industry Inc (GCCI). No Exceptions.
  • Closing deadline strictly adhered to. All categories close 9 October, please have forms back to GCCI by then.

Judging and Judging Criteria

  • The GCCI Management Committee will be judging the entries.
  • The awards are for excellence and the judges will be looking to the nomination information supplied for evidence of outstanding initiative, achievement, enthusiasm and dedication to excellence.
  • The judges will also look for commitment to the Gladstone region.
  • The judges will take into account the written submission, along with a 10 minute interview that will be asked of you, to be held between Wednesday 15 – Thursday 16 October.
  • The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Entry Instructions for Submissions

To assist the judges to consider your nomination in the best possible light; the criteria questions are provided to assist you in formulating a nomination submission.

Confidentiality and Disclaimer

All information provided is confidential and not to be released without the entrant’s permission. Judges and event organizers will observe the requirements of confidentiality and will declare and void any possible conflicts of interest.

  • Nomination Acceptance

  • i.e Sole Trader, Partnership, Franchise, Chain, Branch, Government agency etc.
  • This could be images of your shop front, staff, serving customers or you engaging within your business
  • Business Overview

    Please explain your answer as fully as possible. Bullet point format is adequate. If a question is not applicable to your business please indicate as N/A. There is no penalty for not answering a question however the information you do provide is what assists the judges in their decision making.
  • Management

  • Please indicate if this is for yourself or staff in management roles. This could be formal education through a registered training organisation such as TAFE or informal education through in house courses, training or mentoring.
  • Eg. are active on committees or within community events, sponsorships, donations
  • Staff

  • This could be formal education through a registered training organisation such as TAFE or informal education through in house courses, training or mentoring.
  • Customer

  • Please indicate a score out of ten.
  • Eg staff training, incentives
  • Marketing

  • This could be a formal or informal plan. Please indicate whether you sought professional advice
  • Eg. are all your staff uniformed, vehicles/equipment, signage
  • Availability

  • Please indicate your availability between 8am and 6pm on the 15th or 16th of October. Whilst we will endeavour to meet your preferred time, this may not always be possible.
