Part time journalist
A rare and exciting opportunity exists for a part-time journalist to join our team at Gladstone News.
The successful applicant will play a key role in the fortnightly production of our locally produced news publication, and multiplatform journalism.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and Sales Manager, you will be responsible for researching, compiling, and producing high-quality news stories. You’ll liaise with community groups, large corporations, business owners, and most importantly community members and ensure our deadlines are met with the highest standards. Establishing strong community connections and being willing to take on a range of journalism tasks is key to the success of the role.
The successful applicant will:
– have knowledge of local and national news stories affecting the community
– have a track record for showing initiative in generating ideas, working to direction, and collaborating on tasks including writing for print and digital platforms
– have proven skills in writing for online and social media audiences
– be able to show initiative in generating story ideas and operate with initiative and flexibility
– have excellent oral and written communication skills with outstanding grammar, proofreading, and editing skills
– have exceptional time management skills
– be a team player and enjoy collaborating
– basic knowledge of WordPress is preferred but not essential
– contribute to a positive and creative culture and keep our Company’s core values at the forefront of your role
– be available for 15 hours per week
– start date January 2nd 2024
