Saturday, 20th September, marked World Marrow Donor Day, a timely reminder of the urgent need for more Australians to register as stem cell donors. With around 1,000 Australians currently waiting for a match, the Leukaemia Foundation and Stem Cell Donors Australia are calling on young people aged 18–35 to take one simple step: sign up and potentially save a life.
Gladstone local David MacGregor knows firsthand how critical that match can be. The 56-year-old Power Station Control Room Operator was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) in August 2024 after months of unexplained fatigue and bruising.
