The Smith Family celebrated one year of providing its education support program to local children and their families in Gladstone on May 23rd. The Smith Family works in partnership with local families, schools and other community service organisations to ensure that students receive the extra support they need to overcome the barriers that challenge their successful participation at school.
The Learning for Life program offers a range of targeted support for students from disadvantaged backgrounds and has been proven to improve their educational outcomes. Over the past year, 300 Learning for Life sponsorships have been handed out to disadvantaged children and young people in the area, thanks to The Smith Family’s strategic partner Orica. Orica committed $500,000 over three years to help these students in the Gladstone community.
