Residents, officers and members of the Gladstone Thistle Pipe Band marched from the Gladstone Police Station to Saint Saviour’s Anglican Church to honour the service and sacrifice of police officers on National Police Remembrance Day in late September.
The march was followed by a moving service honouring the lives of officers lost in the line of duty. Vigils, services and marches are held across Australia each year to commemorate National Police Remembrance Day and offer an extension of support to families, friends, colleagues and communities affected by those losses, while also remembering and honouring officers whose deaths did not occur because of their duty.
