14 Jan Caity’s Greatest Shave
On January 30 Gladstone local Caity Davis is hosting a family fun day at the Central FC Soccer grounds in Toolooa, where she will shave her head for the Leukaemia Foundation.
The 32-year-old mother of five made the commitment to participate in the World’s Greatest Shave in May and began fundraising in June with the goal of $7,000.
Caity said she was motivated to fundraise for the foundation after a child of a long term friend received a leukaemia diagnosis at the age of 2.
“It was sudden and very shocking, to both parents and their close friends and family.
“When I found out, I said to them that I would love to help out, so I asked questions about the help that they have received, and if it wasn’t for the Leukaemia Foundation they wouldn’t have had the opportunity to receive the help that they did.”
Caity came up with some innovative ways to fundraise for the event, selling 230 boxes of Krispy Kreme doughnuts and hosting a raffle with prizes donated by local Gladstone businesses.
The event will run from 10 AM – 2 PM and will feature live music, a sausage sizzle, a food van, dippin dots, a balloon artist and hopefully a jumping castle! The event may be subject to change due to the ever-changing COVID restrictions, to see the latest updates head to the Facebook event page at www.facebook.com/events/373493980494839/
