The Spirit of Capricorn coming up Hospital Hill in Gladstone – This train would have left the Gladstone Railway Station, crossing Auckland Street and then the underpass of Goondoon Street. The West Gladstone Railway Station had been situated at the western end of this passageway and the line continued along to the Black Bridge built over Glenlyon Street. Next was the Scenery Street Crossing where there was a stop for Railmotor users. The climb going up Hospital Hill was taxing for steam engines as this was quite steep. Once the train was over this hill, the run down the other side took it to Rocky Glen.
