15 Jul Luminous set to light up city landmarks
Luminous, the award-winning visual event is back this weekend, bigger and better than ever!
In addition to the main Luminous festivities at Tondoon Botanic Gardens, a specially designed Heritage Trail will be activated along Goondoon Street to mark the event on July 16 and 17.
Gladstone Regional Councillor Rick Hansen said the trail would showcase both the old and new along Goondoon Street, lighting up buildings such as the old Gladstone Post Office, Kullaroo House, Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre and Gladstone Library.
“The trail, which is free to attend, will allow the community to take themselves or their family on a walk down Goondoon Street to see some special buildings that will be lit up to celebrate Luminous,” he said.
“While the festivities taking place along Goondoon Street will provide a unique point of difference to Luminous this year, the main event will still take place at Tondoon Botanic Gardens.
“The Gardens will be packed with impressive light displays, illuminated art, live music, roving entertainment, workshops, children’s activities, a spectacular water activation on Lake Tondoon and much more.
“Both events are family-friendly with something on offer for everyone.”
Over 12,000 people attended Luminous in 2019, last year’s event was cancelled due to COVID-19.
