Ward’s Brewery takes out two awards at the Australian International Beer Awards after only six months of operation

This prestigious annual competition judges beers from around the globe, with 2,800 entries and in 2023 celebrated its 30th anniversary.

Michael Comley, the Ward’s team and Paul Bergamini, Head Brewer have strived to deliver quality beers and the two bronze medals at one of the world’s biggest beer competitions has, quite clearly, shown the brewery is on track.

“The Australian International Beer Awards is a show of expertly crafted beers from all over the world, featuring beers from as far as the United States, Japan, NZ and China with entries from hundreds of breweries. Out of 23 categories, Ward’s Brewery scored a bronze medal for our Lager in the New World Lager (Best International Lager) category, and another bronze medal for our Hazy Pale Ale in the Juicy or Hazy Pale Ale (Best Modern Pale Ale) category,” said Michael.

Ward’s Brewery has promised to keep their region, community and history at the heart of what they do. Whether it’s retaining pieces of history from the hundred-year-old Ward’s heritage or featuring at beer & music festivals in our region and further afield.

“We are proud of Gladstone and want our customers to feel confident that Ward’s Brewery is representing them in the best manner possible. Glad it’s our Beer!, is about Gladstone, the people, the culture and its beautiful natural surroundings we enjoy. Best to have great beer to go with it.”

If you’d like to try an award-winning beer made right here in our own backyard, pop into Ward’s Brewery at 131 Auckland Street and try their Lager or their Hazy Pale Ale on tap, alongside a selection of other handcrafted beers and a local menu.
