High Tea of Hope

A School of Hard Knocks initiative, Social Inclusion Week is about connecting local communities, workmates, family and friends, in order to build and strengthen relationships or networks and or networks and address isolation and exclusion of those who may be marginalised. SIW 2017’s theme this year is “Connect, Collaborate and Celebrate”.

My hardworking team of 4 – Jessica Mulhall, Alison Cukovski, Sarah-Jane O’Dwyer and myself – we sat, we talked, and we came up with the idea of holding a fundraiser. We were well on the way to organising a “pink ribbon” event, when we met Sally Haley – a breast care nurse with the McGrath Foundation – living and working for the Gladstone district. She is one of the 118 nurses who service the needs of clients before during and after the deadly disease. She educates them – both men and women – and gives them all the support they need.
